About Dyslexia

The Delphi Definition

The Delphi Definition was created by bringing together a large group of international experts who voted until they reached agreement on what Dyslexia is. It defines Dyslexia as processing difficulties that affect reading and spelling, often linked to phonological skills, working memory, and processing speed.

An informational poster about dyslexia, featuring sections on nature, manifestation, impact, and variance and occurrence. The poster has a colorful design with a blue, white, and pink theme, including a logo with colorful geometric shapes and text that reads 'Dyslexia East Sussex'.

The assessment process is designed to build a clearer picture of how a person learns. It is not about measuring intelligence or judging ability. Instead, it helps identify learning differences and the support strategies that may improve confidence and performance.

For children, early assessment can provide valuable support during education and help prevent frustration or loss of confidence. For adults, a diagnosis can often bring a better understanding of lifelong challenges and open access to workplace support and practical resources.
